Mormons believe, revere and love the Holy Bible. We see it as a powerful, important, and sacred holy record which serves as the bedrock of all Christianity. The Bible is rich in history, doctrine, stories, sermons and testimonies, all of which witness that Jesus Christ is the Divine Son of our Heavenly Father. The Bible is the word of God and came from the writings of holy men of God as they were moved upon by the Holy Ghost. Through the same process we have additional Holy Scripture, including the Book of Mormon, which supports and exalts the Bible.
The Bible is the word of God, and those people who wrote in it were inspired people. The Bible testifies that Christ came to the world to die for us. It also talks about God's dealings with the children of Israel to prepare them for the coming of Christ. Holy men were inspired by the Holy Ghost to write these things so that we can read them in our day. Similar to the Bible, the Book of Mormon is the word of God. It discusses Christ's dealings with the people in America similar to Christ's ministry in Jerusalem. The Book of Mormon was written to solidify and support the doctrines of the Bible, and to help people grow closer to Jesus Christ.
